Your Sliding glass door should move easily when you open and close it. If you need to jiggle it or if it gets stuck often. A simple tune up is in order.
With winter around the corner, it is a good idea to not only look for cracked windows and glass repair, but being sure your able to easily open and close your sliding door can be a time saver in those cold months ahead.
Push the door up so that the wheels on the bottom of the door clear the track. You may have to use a screwdriver to loosen the level screws for the bottom wheels in order to get them to clear the bottom threshold. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry each roller from its pocket in the bottom of the door. If they are bent or broken, replace them with new roller assemblies.
Scrape any dirt from the wheels, Use a wire brush to loosen the hair and dirt from the wheels. Use a vacuum for any debris around the wheels and track.
Lubricate only with silicone spray, which doesn’t hold dirt.
Reinstall, align each roller’s adjustment screw with its access hole. Once they’re seated, retract the rollers as far as possible.
Wipe the head track and the outside face of the removed head stop with alcohol and spray with silicone. Vacuum loose debris from the bottom track.
Slide the door back and forth until it is sliding smoothly.
Pretty simple process that should take around 10 mins.
